It does sound a bit ridiculous, given how smart Einstein was. I take the opposite position (as, apparently does RLC) that the best way to prevent war is to prepare for it. The classic "peace through strength". But I think that in today's uncertain times, not being prepared for war is a sign of weakness, and those who show weakness are treated as victims.
Einstein was a brilliant physicist and mathematician. That doesn't make him smart in any other matters. After all, he was a one-world communist sympathizer.
