Ann, Mr. Peanut is a good one; Joe Camel also comes to mind. The biggest surprise on the list, in my opinion, was Elise -- I only recall seeing it a couple of times. Is it a generational thing?
Honorable mention: the fictional "Mr. Butts," of Doonesbury fame!
Where's is the Levy's Jewish Rye Indian? The floating VW? The Bon Ami chick? RCA used a dog listening to "His Master's Voice" until the 1960's. Where is that graphic?

The Kool-Aid dude is missing.
If you want to find out why Mr Peanut didn't make the list, check here

Sippican, don't worry about The Mouse. The Mouse knows how to take care of bid-ness.
And technically, The Mouse isn't an ad icon, but a movie character. Maybe that will help you sleep.
I must have missed all the Betty Crocker icon moments. I hadn't even known she was an icon until I read this list.
I have seen Elsie a total of maybe 3 times in my life.

WAAaaaaa and Goo Goo.
Where's the Gerber Baby, probably one of the most long running "icons" going. From the 1920's 'til now.
