So that's why I hate pecan pie!

Now, I'll never eat it.

The pie looks like pac-man and there's a bug on an orange wall.

Why would this make you hate pecan pie? Apparently, I'm missing something.

after reading the comments - is it that roaches look pecans? I've always thought pecans looked like little brains.

Little brain pies in a sweet sugary goo.

Yes, I think the connection is between pecans and cockroaches. I don't see it myself, but hey, there you are.

Ahhhhhhrrrrrrg! I didn't notice the similarity until now!

Your son has ruined me for that sort of dessert... now I'll never be able to walk by a restaurant's pie display without giving a noticible shudder.

Pecan pie is delicious...if you are bothered by the roach factor, just slather whipped cream on the top.

Or chop up the nuts.

Either way, you shouldn't let this stand in the way of a classic dessert.

If roaches tasted like pecan pie, I would be eating roaches too. Love me some pecan pie.

This has just given me a craving for pecan pie. No, I don't particularly *like* roaches, but if I stopped eating because of gross stuff I wouldn't eat at all.

So my reaction to the roach is... hey, look, a bug. And my reaction to the pie is... ooooo, haven't had pecan pie in a while, I wonder if I have enough pecans to make one? (I use the pecans in a chicken-walnut curry recipie because I don't like walnuts.)

A couple a' roaches in a pecan pie never hurt a thang. In fact, in some of the dives where I've eaten the best pecan pies the roach factor is probably considerable.

Actually, I made the visual association with cockroaches years ago, and it's never stopped me from LOVING pecan pie. It's one of my absolute favorites. Sometimes I make a chocolate pecan pie, which really amps up the cockroach look. It's delicious.

I also like to make a two-layer version, with a pumpkin pie layer underneath the pecan layer. I have a fabulous slash white trash Ritz cracker pecan pie recipe that people always like. Once I made a chocolate cream cheese layer for the top of the pecan pie...really, really good.

(I'm the one who brings desserts for Thanksgiving and Christmas in my family.)

I like my pecan pie to be very crunchy - I hate it when there's too much goo and not enough pecans.

Marghlar: A whipped-cream topped bowl of cockroaches is still a bowl of cockroaches.
