"The connection's working better..."

I say. (We've been having slow internet service all night.)

"You know why?" Stephen Warley says. "People have been..." He does the universal gesture for drinking.

Don't know Worley, but somebody should buy him a drink.

Personally, I have a 12 pack of Sam Adams, a bottle of Makers Mark, and the morning booked off work. I'm expecting a horrendous night.

And you know what really sucks? social conservatives can look at tonight and say "okay, we lost a lot of seats, but we won all these gay marriage initiatives." But I'm not a social conservative. So I don't have that comfort.

Simon: Maybe you should get some "Southern Comfort."

I'm having trouble figuring out what the point of this blogger thing was. CNN's election coverage has not benefited one bit from a couple cuts to a room full of people sitting around staring at their laptops. Was this just an attempt for CNN to make itself appear "with it" without actually adding any substantive value?

Alan,
I think that when we asses what happened tonight in the cold light of day, this is not going to be anything near as clear cut a victory for liberals as it will probably appear four hours from now. But itis looking clear that it is going to be a substantial victory for Democrats, and I think there is, at this time, a serious danger of losing the Senate.

Ruth Anne - one of the worst drinking experiences I had in college involved southern comfort. Never again. I learned my lesson. ;)

No, I intend to carefully watch the results and make offhand remarks about how good our hostess looks toonight that I qill assuredly regret in the morning.

Oh, that is Simon's plan, too? Hold on. I will get beer and join you. Ann is looking way too hot tonight.

wv: vgffe

verbal gaffe?

Ugh, I was rooting for Kean. I hate that Menendez.

Stephen,

Good man -- enjoy.

And sorry for the misspelling.

Mort - you know what the saddest thing is - I wouldn't have gone to an election night party even if it DID have a free bar. I am sitting surrounded by several monitors, a laptop, a TV, and (absurdly) a lava lamp, just watching all the results coming in.

Ugh, that idiot Trex is on. He's bleating about the "L" word, but all I hear is "Me grimlock need new strategy. Me Grimlock crazy liberal. Me grimlock want to munch metal." I can't wait for the look on his face when Steele wins Maryland.

Mortimer Brezny said...

Ha! Steele should win MD. But in the House this is a blowout. And McCaskill might take MO.

You know, I didn't vote R, but I didn't vote D, either. I voted Libertarian. I'm unsure whether I should feel dirty or not.

Mort - I've done my fair share of moaning about peoplecalling elections before the numbers have actually come in tonight, but think McCaskill is done. The democrats campaigned hard on stem cell research in missouri, and not only is Talent up by 6%, 50% reporting, the stem cell ballot measure is down by 5%
