"She can command $100,000 just to show up at a restaurant or club opening for an hour."
Well, I'm just amazed at that fact. But if you want to read a long meditation on why it's fun to hate Paris Hilton, go to the link. (Via A&L Daily.)

I liked Paris in "House of Wax." It's a better film than anything Madonna was ever in.
Man... I'm sorry, but I gotta rant: What the !$#^@ has Paris Hilton contributed to society besides a dumbass phrase (as if no one's ever said "That's hot" before), and a fellatio video?
Cripes, one hundred grand... to be a mannequin with a pulse at a party... gimme a break...
Personally, she bores me, but to give credit where credit is due, good for her - I hope she is laughing all the way to the bank.
(1) I wonder if she does that relentless posing thing when she's alone at home?
(2) She reminds me that I was wrong. In high school, I thought the vicious social politics were vapid, meaningless, and not about real life. My mistake. Real life is vapid factorial.
She is good at what she does.
That article is wrong when it says her album was a hit. It actually was a huge flop, never went to the top of the charts, and didn't even go Gold.
I just want to go on record that I am willing to show up to a club for a fee sufficiently less than Ms. Hilton. I will even throw in a second hour free if you are one of the first ten clubs to contact me.
She is good at what she does.
What, exectly, does she do? I am sure I would be wonderful at just showing up at parties and every other week or so make an ass of myself...
I wouldn't walk across the street to see her for free so its not an investment that makes any sense to me.
But I know people who spend good money to watch big sweaty guys yell at each other and fake wrestle. Go figure.
Makes you sort of sympathetic to the French Revolution...
I actually listened to the Hilton CD...or at least some of it. Not only was it not a hit, as Christopher pointed out, it completely deserved not being a hit.

Mark
Paris spends her money having a good time, while Conrad wanted to give it to the Catholic Sisters.
Which one is supposed to be the idiot, again?
What's ironic is how many Hiltons are considered mid-grade hotels...
"W" - classier hotels, hotter daughters...
christopher althouse: Actually, the article says she had a hit single and mentions the full CD separately. (I don't know if any of that's true.)
mark: You probably have some sense of decorum, restraint or discretion that would make you unqualified for Paris' "job".
