"Levi Johnston, the kid who knocked up Bristol Palin and will now be forced to marry her, will attend the RNC tonight."

That's how Gawker puts it.

I just had a nightmare vision -- this election season has me continually scribbling a fictionalized screenplay in my head -- of a plot to woo that handsome guy away from Bristol Palin.

Here's the picture of the young man who suddenly has the whole world looking at him:

How is an 18-year-old guy supposed to handle all of this? He could be the main character in one of the ten romans à clef that could be written about this vividly populated election season.

New York Magazine has a piece titled "We’re Sorry, But Palin Baby Daddy Levi Johnston Is Sex on Skates." Doesn't that sound like an open call to female Obama supporters?

Note the caption at that last link.

Funny. But shameless. But he's 18. So... "fair game," right?

Who planted that smear, and why? It garnered sympathy for Mrs. Palin, and took the edge off Bristol's failure to live up to her parents' ideals. Cui bono? Or, modernly, follow the money.

The fake pregnancy rumor apparently surfaced in Alaska not long after Trig was born---and before Bristol was pregnant (or at least way, way early on). It was debunked by the Alaska press, and the Palins were cooperative in the effort to do so.

I was always taught that you did not dignify a slur with a response, by the way.

I really don't think that advice works too well in this instance.

Forced? It's a free country. I don't see a gun pointed to his head.

Thank you Levi and Bristol for not making me pay for your oopsie.

Levi prolly thought Bristol was a bit of a meal ticket, being the guvnah's daughter and all; with the nomination, the meal ticket just got bigger. He's laughing all the way to the altar.

He's cute...if I were a 17 year old young woman, I'd do him.

In fact, at 17 I was dating a feeder league hockey player. I think I have a thing for hockey players.

Now I'm starting to appreciate hockey moms more now too!

Hey the thread about the code pink lady was about "Sound and Furry" but not that many people were interested. Go figure.

I heard that a trapper from Minnesota snared her and is selling the pelt on ebay.

Maybe they should have interviewed the future mother-in-law of Bristol Palin:

Via Media Blog (NRO):

" The boy’s mother, Sherry Johnston, said there had been no pressure put on her son to marry 17-year-old Bristol Palin and the two teens had made plans to wed before it was known she was pregnant.

“This is just a bonus,” Johnston said."

Typical country practice: Come for the wedding, stay for the christening.

I wish the people who feel confident enough to write these rumors and condemnations in blogs and the main stream media would go read what they have written face-to-face with Levi. I think Levi would handle it in an old-fashioned why that would shut some mouths.

Apparently Republicans aren't deserving of the term "fiancee".

No, by using the term "baby daddy", New York Magazine is just being typical white people.

Forced to marry her?

Forced to attend the RNC convention?

I don't see a gun to his head.

His meal ticket just turned into a smorgasbord. Lucky guy.

Sure you can campaign for your parent(s) and expect privacy and give no media interviews, not even to schoolchildren journalists.

Bristol looks beautiful in those photos, Jdeeripper. And oddly, she looks older than years, don't you think?

Whereas the incredibly hot (hands off, Palladian!) Levi just looks like the boy he is. GULP. I'm praying here, for both of their sakes.

Ann, I propose a new thread.

Subject: BO's Live Vetting = FAIL.

or,

Did you order the Code Red?

Barack Obama (I can never decide what to call him) is the leader of the Democratic Party, its nominee for POTUS 2008. He is the charismatic, the chosen one, the healer.

Why aren't you giving him his moment, you of the Baby Talk fetish? BO would like you to shut up now. Why aren't you listening? Among other things the Dem candidate could also be said to have blemishes of a family nature. This is a no-win situation for you.

What would be a win if Obama could Show Red, or do it in Blue or whatever suits him, but in any case show some emotion and demand a halt to meddling in this, in a way that suggested he expected results.

Is there no party discipline? How are you going to get poll workers out in November snow?

Is BO driving your train or isn't he? Why can't he make you understand what he wants? The latent argument for Barack Obama is that he is some Hawaiian sun-kissed Golden Man who will heal and unite like Neo or Freder(sen?) and then America will be on the road to recovery from something that is evidently wrong with it. It is not what he says or does but what he is, what is in him.

I guess.

So, is weakness an explicit quality of this character? For his not being able to get his people to shut up is a weakness.

The fact that you continue may just be due to your psychology. But if that's so, boy, there are a lot of you.

So, this empathy quality of Obama's should show itself as leadership, much as in A Few Good Men the commandant, Col. Jessep, showed leadership and discipline in his management of Guantanamo (pre-9/11). Everything at Gitmo was high and tight under him and Maj. Kendrick. Nobody would disobey an order of the Colonel's.

Which was the paradox of, Did you order the Code Red, Colonel?

Did he commit this crime? Was it committed on his criminal orders? Yes, he finally blurts out, pleading necessity, special expertise, and a price for failure.

The alternative is that on his own base, he couldn't guarantee the safety of the life of one of his own men. That 'it wasn't his base anymore' (a la Karpinski), that he was unfit to command.

Oh, I guess we gotta say that Obama didn't order the Code Blue. Then what is he that he can't tell people to zip it and make it stick?

Who's in charge there? Biden? Michelle?

Or was message discipline, focus, control, purely a Clinton thing?

This is a test, a vetting that one might have liked a President-presumptive to pass. Isn't part of his appeal supposed to be classiness? And you're ruining it for him.

Everyone knows it's the first time in the history of the world a couple of kids had premarital sex and ended up pregnant and married.

Anyone's parents?

Anyone?

You, there, in the Democratic delegates....

Why are you trying to back away from something you yourself said?

Michael, you're an idiot.

Your response: "No simply asking if the same standards are being applied to your preferred candidate which it of course appears it isn't."

I asked if ZPS was applying the same standards, not the media or bloggers. If you are that dense that you can't understand that from my original post (11:53 AM)then I can't help you. But I suspect you're simply being disengenuous as most of the lefties on this blog are.

Now go haunt someone else as I have no further patience with people who can't follow a simple line of discussion.
