"This is all politics and theater, but I am the junior senator according to every law book in the nation."

Roland Burris, rolling into town, and don't you dare try to stop him. He's got every law book on his side.

Heck, this conservative wants to see him seated.

Like his spunk.

This conservative doesn't want to see him seated, but doesn't think the Senate can deny him.

EVERY law book in the nation!? Well, I guess that's that, then.

He's the magic man. Said so himself.

Burris: Well, I am, I am the Magic Man.

I transcribed it. He also said:

I have never in my life and all of my years I’ve been elected to office thought anything about race. I’ve been elected four times in the state of Illinois and the great people of Illinois have seen the qualifications and the commitment Roland Burris has and race has never been a concern of mine.

One has only to look at his tomb to see that that is not a true statement.

This guy is legal. He may become a public relations embarrassment to the Kleptocrat Reid, but he is not punishable by expulsion for the method of his selection. On the otherhand Franken is 100% illegal and everyone knows it. This must be a vast Leftwing conspiracy at work. In other words, it's politics.

Hey, who can argue with this?

"We are hoping and praying that they will not be able to deny what the Lord has ordained," Burris, Sunday night.

Good God almighty, God bless us one and all.

Those cash contributions and fund raising functions didn't hurt either.

I think he'll be seated but eventually thrown out.

Burris really is a comic figure. He's spent his political career as a relatively inoffensive (which is saying something in Illinois) glorified accountant. There is no way he could get to the senate on his own merits.

That said, like others here, I think legally he has to be seated. But I also think he shouldn't unpack his bags too quickly.

Just put an asterisks on senate record ;)

I agree.

Hope that doesn't get you in trouble here.

*And I love the howling canine...I have two Labs that love to do the same.

(leafs through How to Avoid Probate) Well, I'll be darned. There he is on page 217! And you can imagine my surprise when I saw that he had his own chapter in the Third Restatement of Torts.

I think Burris is an idiot, but is indeed the Junior Senator from Illinois as defined by the Constitution.

What bugs me the most isn't that Reid questions the validity of the Burris appointment specifically, it's that Reid declared no appointment of Blogojevich would be permitted.

Reid also declared Franken the winner even though Franken hasn't yet been certified by the Governor or Minnesota.

What color was Franken again?

CNN is showing Burris walking up to the Senate door...LIVE.

The Sergeant-at-Arms and a Reid lackey are about to meet him at the door.

I expect a fist-fight.
