Congratulations to THE WORLD CHAMPION PITTSBURGH STEELERS!!!!

I will note that the Giants kicked your ass when we played during the regular season but that don't mean
beans.

And Jennifer Holliday rules!!!!!!

So am I supposed to try and get in there too?

Yes, and take an artistic photo of the urinal. "Urinal cake cafe"

I was rooting for the Steelers. Been a fan since way back in the Franco Harris days.

However, I would have been quite happy if Warner had connected with Fitzgerald for a TD on the final drive.

Re. Simon's question. It seems that Rooney was an early Obama supporter.

Baseball, America's sport. Not that European weenie "sport".

I second that.

You should not go to Camp Randall because of the mens urinal Althouse. You should go because it is a very famous stadium.

Believe it or not when I was young I was fascinated with stadiums. I had a three ring binder of every football stadium in the country. I knew the maximum capacity of each stadium. I knew the design of each stadium. I drew each stadium. I always read about the attendance at each football game.

Camp Randall is thought of as one of the 10 most famous college football stadiums in the country. Michigan and Ohio State are also in that list.

One of the reasons that it is so famous is because it has lasted all these years and not been torn down and replaced by a new stadium. The seats are totally uncomfortable and are bleachers but it is the history of the place that makes it so interesting.

I also love the old field house in Madison. I think that building is gorgeous. My dad took me to games there when I was young. I have never been to the new Kohl Center and have no interest but I love that old field house.

Learn so new big words did ya little fellow?
Apparently more than you, Prince of The Interweb!

Its customary on the intertubs to be able to document a charge.
Not making a charge, sorry.

You charged Warner of crediting God for outcomes of football games. When challenged you came up short.
Wow! I'm chastised!
How's this, asshat?

since you're too damn lazy, try "kurt warner religion" in Google and do some mouth shutting then, m'kay?

I used to root for them back in the Terry Bradshaw era. Which was......um....a while back. I don't think my team will ever get to the Super Bowl, so I will remain a unaligned fan during that game.

I don't think that a Cardinal is a very good football mascot. That's not a very fierce or imposing bird. That's like having a football team called the Chipmunks or the Raccoons.

Oh Ron you spunky little guy! New to the internet are you? Hey, everyone has to start somewhere.
Sadly, no I never have felt the need to go searching for support for anothers accusation.

"Assuming he would credit him for skewing the game in the first place which is assuming facts not in evidence.

Really? Do you ever listen to athletes? They drone on about God more than preachers! Warner, in particular!"

Now, as you can see, I clearly mentioned thanking God for skewing a game. Your response was that Warner drones on more than a preacher. This accusation was unsupported in your comment. Now, since you were responding to my comment, it is reasonable to expect that you had examples where Warner thanked God for winning a game, that without His intervention, Warner would have lost.

Anywho...I went to your link and it seems to be a opinion piece that in no way supports your statement. Now kiddo, that might be considered in bad faith. When making a statement and then supplying supporting evidence, it is incumbent to actually read your link first and confirm it supports your statement.

It would appear you have come up short. Again.

Ah well. Such is life.

Oh, are people still saying asshat? Seems so 2007.

There is bound to be a website were you can find how the urinals rate from stadium to stadium.

"Were we all for the Steelers in here? I couldn't tell."

I was for Liam Neeson; I don't know what you all were watching.

Neeson kicked some ass, too. Final score was, like, 21 to 1.

I thought we could only get above 200 comments when talking about Palin.

Heh. I so want to see that movie.

Well, I think you just fixed it. In the age of Obama a late Palin mention counts as if it was a timely Palin mention.

Palin all the time.

Host with the Most said...

"Taken" was awesome.

Liam Neeson in the #1 movie of the weekend.

Liam is Jack Bauer and Jason Bourne rolled together - only older and better looking.

"I have a particular set of skills, honed over a long career . . ."

I smell sequel - especially if that bratty daughter didn't learn anything after being sold into slavery . . .

Taken was not boring, though Neeson gets a little super-hero-y at the end.

There are some plot holes, too.

But: Not boring. Liam does some very fine acting, as well.

I was rooting for the Cardinals because I enjoy a good underdog showing. But this was a satisfactory game, close and well-fought.

Jennifer Hudson DOES rule, indeed. I liked the little revolutionary style jacket as a thematic touch. But I liked the arrangement as well. I don't tend to enjoy the anthem when its subjected to over-stylized vocals. The vocal acrobatics become the focus. But Hudson's arrangement instead made the best of her vocal flexibility, and the slowed-down pacing was great. Her perfect phrasing and enunciation focused the attention on the text. I liked the shift in tempo at the end, striking a more urgent tone right where it matters - does our flag still wave? have we prevailed? Stirring! A personal triumph for her, but a respectful rendering of our anthem. What a pro! I don't care if she lip-synched. So she delivered that performance off stage - it's still a magnificent performance.

That's all true but Althouse still scorns her because she is a full figured woman with some junk in the trunk.

Beth said...

I love a woman with back, with a shelf, with "junk in the trunk." But I'm not entering any tussle between you and Althouse, sweet Trooper.

Trooper York said...

Why I know that Beth my dear. You didn't even jump to the defense of the oyster po-boy which is getting trounced by the Philly cheese steak.

It comes from the defeatism of being a Saints Fan.

Beth said...

I missed the sandwich competition, or I'd have been in the fray. Clearly, the oyster poboy is superior.

Next year, that's the Saints year. New coach on defense. Let's hope we can get around our lack of draft picks due to acquiring that bum, Jeremy Shockey.

Okay, so the Saints' imminent success may be an illusion, but there's nothing illusory about the superiority of the oyster poboy to a steak smothered in cheese (is it even real cheese?) Gimme a break!

Trooper York said...

It's actually in fourth place behind the cheese steak, the pastrami on rye and tied with the meatball hero for last.

Still three days left to stuff to have your students stuff the ballot box.

So to speak.

Synova said...

Heh... I saw the 200 plus comments and immediately thought of Palin, but figured it out before I looked. ;-)

I didn't like the anthem much. Why slow it down like that? Granted, it's probably done slower often enough, but so? It always makes me think of the Simpson's episode, you know.

If it's got to last longer, sing another verse or something.

I didn't see any Super Bowl ads. I watch the game, and when they take a commercial break, I flip over to my favorite tv show, How It's Made, which was on for the entire game.

Jennifer Hudson sang the national anthem very poorly. She is not a capable singer. I truly don't care about her thug family - they lived like trash and died like dogs. More's the pity, but that happens across this country every day. Thug is as thug does.

Fascinating that on Super Bowl Sunday, the manliest of all days in America, the New York Times ran a front-page "Styles" article on the radical femynist lesbian hermit-like communities that pepper rural America. (These are communities so freaky that the visit of a male infant is cause for rancor.)

Then in the Magazine was a feature on non-lesbian women who raise children without the help of men, thank you very much.

Adjacent to that feature was a photo essay on men's fashion....in which all the dandy boys were dressed in flaming fluorescent pink.

What a newspaper!

I look forward to its Father's Day issue with multiple features on artificial insemination and a profile of Gloria Steinem.

I've never gone, because no one has ever asked me to go with them. Same reason I've never gone camping, and a whole lot of other things. It's not something I'm going to take the initiative on.

I'm extremely tall in the late afternoon.

The Dude said...

Ah, but Lem, I do. I have heard good singers all my life. J. Hudson is a bad singer - she is incapable of singing the song as written, cannot find notes, wanders off pitch, and throws in meaningless, distracting ornamentation for no reason.

She is fat and ugly, too.
