Should the President be insulting pop stars?

Obama called Kanye West a "jackass." Which he is, but what business is it of the President's?

It was supposed to be an unofficial, off the record remark. Obama merely expressed his opinion as any American has a right to. Being President does not imply forfeiture of basic rights.

Cut the guy some slack.

No, he should be beating them for their impudence and depravity.

Aww, right, "Sock it to me?" Something like that?
Bush Sr. was undone by that supermarket scanner. Apocryphal or not, like Gore's "I invented the Internet" it resonated with the candidate's demeanor.
Dubya's Texas drawl and folksy style drove his opposition bananas. The back-pat when the beach volleyball player offered her backside at the Olympics was the culmination of Dubya's carefully cultivated frat-boy charm -- "one of us," but with a touch of class.
Bill Clinton was the master, though. Getting busted with the interns and laughing it off, BS'ing his way out of it with some stuff about the definition of "is", that's the stuff of legend.
He wore Monica's blue dress like a trophy. There's not a President in the last half-century who could've gotten away with that.
