"The FBI knew for nearly a year before his murderous Fort Hood rampage that psycho Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan had repeatedly contacted al Qaeda..."

"... but the blundering agency last night admitted it dismissed the lead."

For nearly a year? Then it's Bush's FBI too.  Disgraceful.
The FBI said Hasan -- who faces a court-martial -- first turned up on its radar in December 2008.

That's when he sent 10 to 20 e-mails to several terror-related Islamic figures, including Anwar Aulaqi, a radical imam from Virginia who has been openly propagandizing for al Qaeda in Yemen and who had ties to several of the 9/11 hijackers...

But no alarm bells went off because the communications were consistent with Hasan's research into how US combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan affect civilians, officials insisted. The e-mails never made explicit threats or discussed plots, they added....

Federal sources admitted that Hasan was so off their radar by that point that they hadn't even been aware of his gun purchases in Texas in August.

Investigators say they were still operating on the theory that Hasan, 39, acted alone.
Yeah? And what are they missing now?

As far as Noonan using lines from poets ... she crafted some impressive speeches. I don't recall anyone claiming those were Reagan's original words as much as sentiments from his heart.

I find it very difficult to listen to Obama for any length of time, and I don't. I prefer to read what I need to. He has an odd cadence to his delivery. (I have never understood the swooning over his great oratory.) If I were teaching public speaking he would serve as a negative example. It just doesn't flow.

And as far as speaking from his heart, I am thinking that wealth redistribution is what's in his heart and that does not lift me up or reassure me.

That being said, I am pleased that his speech at Fort Hood served the people he was there for.

Re the Greek priest, I found this line in the article about his assailant's activities interesting:

"His blog entries tout the benefits of increasing testosterone and human growth hormones."

Gee, I wonder why he was so hopped up and aggressive. I know -- it must be because he's in the military!

Ok then.. try and trash this one too.

Ronald Reagan- 40th Anniversary of D-Day

There used to be a time when quoting someone else's words, especially in poetic format, was considered the height of bon ton, the imprimatur of an educated person.

Now to certain people, it just means you're not intelligent enough to think up your own words.

Victoria

No. It. Doesn't. This is what bothers me the most. He of course masks his awkward phrasing as an oratorical pause, but that doesn't make it any the easier to listen to.

I tried to listen to his Ft Hood speech in its entirety, even with the screen off and just the audio, but I couldn't get through it. Just 80%.

I could listen to JFK and MLK Jr for hours.

Cheers,
Victoria

"However the "ties" to the 9/11 hijackers is completely bogus at this stage.

THEY ATTENDED THE SAME MOSQUE!!!!!"

Great point, C-fudd. It's not as if they were suggesting something meaningful like, say, blaming every Jew for everything any Jew ever did.
