"I hope he dies."

I'm impressed that it took 12 comments before anyone at Politico said that (or anything like that) after a report that Rush Limbaugh has been hospitalized with chest pains and is in "serious" condition.

ADDED: Much re-tweeted at Twitter: "The people calling for Rush Limbaugh to die are the same people who ask to control your healthcare."

AND: Rush Limbaugh has said on his show many times that once the government runs health care, there is a threat that life-or-death decisions will be made based on politics, and people will worry that if they  criticize the government or espouse the wrong opinions decisions will go against them.

Hopefully Rush will be alright and back to the radio soon.

The hateful comments don't bother me that much because I know how hateful many leftists can be. They control the White House and both houses of Congress yet they are angry. Why?

Man, that's rich.

I do find interesting the cognitive dissonance of a group whose first response in debate is not to address the issue but to insult or ridicule the person now calling "hatred" the well-founded criticisms of Rush Limbaugh (who routinely insults people, himself).

Cons can sure dish it out but sure can't take it.

DBQ, how sad that you engage in simple-minded denial.

Snopes confirms this racist quote from Limbaugh:

"# "Take that bone out of your nose and call me back."

@ Alpha.

Your link to Snopes means nothing. The quotes on that link were collected from emails and the status of true/false is stated as being "MIXED". Which means some might be true and some might be false.

Snopes doesn't say which ones are true or false. So you link is worth spit.

I don't deny that Rush might have said those words BUT

If you can show us where in a transcript those things were said and we can determine that they weren't taken out of context, as often is the case......THEN you have something.

Right now you have squat. You liberals are such poor debaters, liars and lack any real logical senses.

The kind of spewing vitriol being directed by some at Rush ... is the product of a mindset where "freedom" is defined such that basic human morality -- and intellectual honesty -- is optional.

Always remember, the great difference between Left and Right is the former's embrace of relativism vs. the latter's occasional dabbling with it.

I hope Rush is OK - God willing he will not have had a heart attack at all.

Liberals are always wishing that Rush would die - a few years ago a liberal called in to EIB and praised Rush for smoking cigars - because they would give him cancer.

Liberals are NOT like conservatives - there are some very mean-spirited liberals out there.

I've never heard a Conservative wish that teddy kennedy would die but it's worth pointing out that Rush and kennedy are NOT morally equivalent. Rush is a great man while kennedy was a corrupt bully.

As for a glance at Brian's profile page, well that's pretty interesting if you know what he's trying to do.

Craig,

Andrew Sullivan is not a 'liberal', at least not in the American MSM sense of the word. He is a classical liberal. Remember, he was once condemned by the leftist gay community because he pushed for the mainstreaming of the gay community (i.e. marriage) over the path of becoming a special 'protected class' and all the bennies that entails. The few positions he has changed (e.g. his attitude towards the Iraq war) is evidence-based rather than ideological.

In other words, when he is wrong, it is usually for the right reasons.

Amazing what ghouls are on the left.

Indeed.

An ugly finale for health-care reform

At 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon -- nine hours before the 1 a.m. vote that would effectively clinch the legislation's passage -- Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) went to the Senate floor to propose a prayer. "What the American people ought to pray is that somebody can't make the vote tonight," he said. "That's what they ought to pray."

It was difficult to escape the conclusion that Coburn was referring to the 92-year-old, wheelchair-bound Sen. Robert Byrd (D-W.V.) who has been in and out of hospitals and lay at home ailing..

Alpha Liberal,

You avoided the thrust and pecked at the flank -- Snopes said the quote's true/false was mixed, i.e. it doesn't assert that the allegation is true. You need to clear that hurdle before sniping about the second part of DBQ's recommendation, context. Your apparent assumption that nobody would notice the sleight was itself a bit of a slight.

Also, your accusation of poor reasoning was subpar. People can infer that govt-controlled healthcare will lead to political alliances determining treatment decisions. IT'S NOT IN THE BILL, NOBODY SAID IT IS. It's unintended consequences, I think.

In 20 years, when there are multi-year waits, the unionized federal bureaucrat who authorizes treatment will likely be a democrat, and will be less likely to award the prize to non-dems. I think that's the argument.

You might not agree, and a reasonable person could disagree, but it's not a paranoid concern.

Assuming extreme scarcity of supply down the road, how do you think they'll decide who gets to live? Payoffs? Age? Weight? Bingo? Dance-offs?

Yeah, nrn, great job responding to a (pretty good) joke with a fact that underscores the magnitude of the Kopechnes' loss -- Ted killed their only child, so he would have time to sleep off his drunkeness.

I didn't wish him ill, though.

Dear God. That makes it *worse* doesn't it?

Someone has to speak for her, someone should. In a world with good people in it someone *will* speak for her.

And while we're talking about privileged white boys who can let a pregnant girlfriend drown while they save themselves and hardly face so much as a speed-bump in their life over it...

How does Rush Limbaugh talking about white people getting away with drug use and dealing (assuming the quote someone posted is accurate) amount to racism or anything else bad at all? Because he's mentioning *race* and it can therefore be twisted by people who want to twist it to be something obviously bad because it's clearly *racial*?

Blacks are convicted while white boys walk.

THIS IS WRONG.

And the fact that this matters not AT ALL to those who want to portray Rush as racist, only proves that they don't care about the problems people have in the real world, or about racial equality, but about hating Rush some more.

Rush points this out, doesn't he, this politically opportunistic usage of race by the left.

No wonder so many people hate him so much.

Number 1: I don't listen to Limbaugh or talk radio for that matter. But, I can't stand liars or fools. You seem to be both.

Number 2: You still have nothing. Since you can't PROVE that Limbaugh actually said those things OR that you can't provide context.

@nrn312

Just quoting crap that is floating around on the internet isn't debating and you aren't convincing anyone of anything.

The issue is that just because you say something, or you recieved it in an email or you heard part of a sentence....doesn't make it true.

Lem, you went kind of hysterical talking about my links being bad, and me making up quotes. You actually could have searched the periodicals yourself before accusing me of making something up. I'm not vested enough in the issue to make something up. In fact I used to be a huge Limbaugh listener way back before his peak popularity.

From what I can tell the links got cut off and so I repost them with the titles of the articles so you can actually search the periodicals yourself.

Second, a lot of what Limbaugh says is in jest, but I was simply responding to the statement made by someone that Limbaugh has never told someone to die. He has.

That said, I hope he recovers quickly because you never want to see anyone die before their time.

Finally, I'm sure that all comments wishing Rush were dead were merely the same sort of robust humor that Rush and his fans delight in.

People who support Rush Limbaugh have no capacity for critical thinking, no sense or history, and a propensity for thinking they are better than everyone else -- particularly liberals. My first reaction was that the world would be better off without this money oriented ass spewing right wing PROPAGANDA -- why not? He takes his talking points from the NeoCons, then goes on to con his listeners. Look up that critical thinking stuff -- the people on this site obviously have no idea what it is, but I will tell you this -- critical thinking is the first thing Cults stop their members from doing. Just like Limbaugh's Ditto Heads. I know that this is a waste of time... but I still love all you nuts.
