The most annoying blogger.

I'm being polled about — among other things — who is the most annoying blogger. That's a good thing, right?

Ah ha! My opinion that I see some Groucho Marx in the Professor's style is confirmed.

Is your question about whether it is good to be asked, or whether it is good for a blogger to be annoying?

My answers. Yes, you are influential. If the blogger gets more page views and ad clicks from being annoying, then yes.

it's hard to be an annoying blogger that has any influence.

annoying? just don't read them and they don't annoy you

Ah, that's a good, eh?

That clip ends too soon. The best part is when Harpo bathes his feet in the lemonade. Oh yeah, that's bad for business...

How about the most annoying blog commenter?

I nominate myself by posting a link to an off-topic news article. A Madison man left toddler with dead girlfriend, went to work.

Annoying?

I enjoy your deconstructions.

Of course, authors in the focus may not appreciate having their writing disemboweled, and splayed across the internet. That might be considered annoying.

Provocative is the good version of annoying.

I'd humbly suggest Charles Johnson. Only because I don't think Andrew "Uterus" Sullivan counts anymore.

Good only as long as you're expected to name someone else.

If Keith Ubermoronn is still a diarist (or whatever the Hell they call it) at Kos, he should win hands down.

Give it to Treacle, with Dishonorable Mention to Ritmo (or whomever he is this week).

Greenwald. Not for his opinions, but the convoluted way he expresses them. If brevity is the soul of wit, he's the furthest thing from it.

Fen said...

Yah but Greenwald needs all that space to set up his fallacies.

Man, that is an annoying question!

How do the bloggers lobby for this?

What are annoying posts like?

Do they go into comments and write things like this?

"Poke. Poke. Tap. Poke. Tap-tap. Poke poke poke. Tap. Pokepokepokepoke."

Or

"Hey. Hey hey. Hey hey. HEY! Hey hey hey. Yo! Hey! Hey now! HEY!!!"

How does this contest work?

Oh. Ha ha. I'm supposed to be filling out that poll too.

Hmmmm.

Seriously. You know it's me.

I mean I really work at it.

Some people are annoying by accident. Me it is by design.

Vote for MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!

I prefer disturbing.

The primary definition of annoy works, (to irritate, to bother or vex) but it is rooted in Latin in odio, in hatred. Leading to the secondary definition (to harm, injure or molest).

Disturb comes out of disturbare to drive asunder, tear in pieces; dis-, apart, and turbare to disorder, throw into confusion.

It only gets better from there:
to stir
to move
to discompose
to excite from a state of rest or tranquillity
to disquiet (my favorite)
to make uneasy or anxious
to agitate the mind of
to move the passions of
to ruffle
to move from any regular course of operation
to interrupt regular order of
to make irregular
to break in on, interrupt; interfere with
to inconvenience

I was thinking more Josey Wales, but with a BabyBjorn photoshopped on.

No, really I was wondering if there was a vote to ensure that there was never a series about me ever on your blog.

I bought a print of that for my office.

Disturbingly Intense. Requires compromised or companion animal for additional annoyance and levity.

If I was evaluating a blog for most annoying, I would use the following screen:

1. Does the blogger normally point-out the obvious, or make obviously wrong claims?

My theory here is that it is equally irritating to be bored as it is to be subject to stupidity.

2. Writing: Convoluted or succinct?

Greenwald is the perfect example: Even if his conclusions were correct all the time, who wants to wade through such a blizzard of words to find out?

3. Comments: Yes or No?

Even if I don't want to comment, it is irritating to not be ableto.

4. Commenters: Are they a chorus of agreement and praise? If so, this is irritating--they are contributing to a blog's suckyness by such behavior.
