"Hoft gets this through Instadouche and, unsurprisingly, Ann Althouse, who has been looking at pictures again, something that never ends well..."

"... as also of course happens when she 'thinks things' and then 'writes them down' and 'alerts the public as to her thoughts.'"

Heh. I got FireDogLake writing in the anti-Althousiana genre.

ADDED: I guess Firedoglake is flouting the "civility" bullshit that's been bandied about lately.

AND: Here's the link to Hoft, where there is a nice juxtaposition of photographs along with my quote about the President's hair color change. (Let's call it his "mood hair.")

I think it's important to talk about the way politicians use their visual image in communicating their message. Clearly, we talk about female politicians' hair all the time. It is different to talk about men's hair, of course, because men aren't supposed to care much about their hair.

It's part of the conventional manly image not to pay attention to hair, and when a man runs afoul of that image, he gives his opponents raw material that... well, that can make a hilarious video. (That video was much funnier before the pricks that own the "Theme from Rawhide" asserted their candyass rights.)

AND: Here's how female politicians are treated when they change their hair:

More linkage to you, Professor.

I just never, ever tire of how it makes all the very dampest sorts of gormless leftist trolltards squeak indignantly in high-pitched, cartoony online fury. ;)

I like how Team Boy-Girl pundit's website has big block letters for their font, the better for the barely literates to read by!

How the Obama Campaign Created the ‘Palin Incites Violence’ Meme

Leftards. Beatdowns. Anything both this fun and this easy almost certainly has to be fattening, as well.

Heh.

Well done Ann, drawing the attention of the left. President Obama's weight and hair color are important to us because they are general indicators of health. Anybody notice how much Jimmy Carter's hair grayed during his presidency? And Obama looks like he has lost a little weight. Not healthy. Manipulating his hair this way is one more deceit on the American public.

Comments about Palin's hair and attractiveness are suspicious, as in didn't they have anything else to say about her? As in Barbara Bush calling Sarah attractive. That was an insult, damning with faint praise. While Sarah is attractive, that is not her distinguishing feature. Notice that Representative Clyburn thinks she is both attractive and articulate. He is neither. NAACP used to put up signs discouraging the use of "he is an articulate Black man".

Anybody remember the poster of Golda Meir? Not particularly attractive, but the slogan said "Yes, but can she type." She was wonderful.

Women shouldn't color their hair: those who do regularly are like 50% more likely to get bladder cancer than those who don't. Those who color other women's hair are like 80% more likely to get bladder cancer. What color of ribbon is worn for bladder cancer? That seems avoidable.

As a white high school teacher in a diverse high school, I have been called by the name of a black teacher more than once. I have even had black students use the n-word on me. Once a student called me a "Bald face nigger". I called his mom and told her my hair was short, and I was "balding". She said she would take care of it. Another time, one student called another a bitch just as the bell was ringing, but in a joking manner. I caught her in the hall and told her not to joke that way, as others would wonder why she didn't get in trouble for such language. Her reply was "ok, I got ya nigger". I took that as a compliment: she was obviously comfortable with me, and willing to accept correction without getting angry. We didn't have time then to discuss the inappropriateness of her vocabulary, but she had many other issues.

To be sure, I wouldn't want another man calling my wife by the sweet and gentle terms I would use. But I wouldn't use those terms in front of other men. If the African-American community wants to stamp out the use of the word, then they need to clean their own house first. Why do so many popular rappers use the word? Just last week I was walking down the sidewalk, and passed an African-American male, with earbuds in place, walking the opposite direction. All of sudden he started rapping something, and that word was part of the lyrics.

Ritmo is a loser.

Was that the limpest, most embarrassing all-day temper tantrum ever, or what?

"Avatars! Rednecks! Snipped me you suck Ann don't get it arrglle blarghh nerds YAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH -- !!!"

Like a day spent locked in a small, windowless room with a glossolalia-afflicted Joy Behar. ROTFLMAO!!!!

I suppose Althouse thinks Obama changed his hair color BACK to grey the day after his Saturday video:

And she wonders why she is relentlessly mocked.
