Apparently, Justice Prosser won the election!

According to the latest count. The AP tally that everyone was looking at had the Winnebago County number wrong:
Winnebago County's numbers say Prosser received 20,701 votes to Kloppenburg's 18,887. The AP has 19,991 for Prosser to Kloppenburg's 18,421.

The new numbers would give Prosser 244 more votes, or a 40-vote lead statewide.
ADDED: I wonder if the concept of fraud is suddenly much more appealing to certain people.

UPDATE: Whoa!

"Waukesha County Clerk Kathy Nickolaus apologized this evening for human error that she blamed for failing to include the city of Brookfield's vote totals in the tally she reported to the media Election Night."

Well, if I was a wingnut, I'd be hoping they've got a good paper trail in Waukesha County, because this report points out how unusual it looks.

Don't celebrate too soon, kiddos. That county clerk is known to be a real piece of work, even among the other Republicans.

In other words I have no idea where you are pulling that reference or quote unless you attribute it to someone.

And to tell you the truth I missed the quotation marks -the practice here is to use html to italicize other people's comments.

Wah wah your bitter tears taste so GOOD right now! Trollbegone!

BTW, I'm lol@left-wing sites reporting "problems" with this county!

Back in the day, everyone had to travel to his place of birth to be counted (well, the men at least). We should consider returning to that method. Once there, each would have to decide which of two lines to stand in. Counting votes would be easy, as long as the lines were basically straight and there wasn't too much shuffling around.

I hate to break this to you...

Nah, I don't. You are clearly a wingnut.

"I'm the Democratic vice chair of Waukesha County, so I'm not going to stand here and tell you something that's not true," Kitzinger said."

I noticed over the years that anyone who goes on and on about wingnuts is a wingnut themselves. Projection, thy name is LIEBERAL!

Ah, the "T word." Ha ha! Look, this will be what it'll be. I'm just saying, these results are pretty fishy.

It'll all come out in the recount, though. Waukesha is an optical scanner county with a smidgen of touch screens. You can certain that place will be fully hand-recounted.

If Prosser got that many votes, fine by me. I don't like him, or Walker. But my world won't come crashing down.

People keep suggesting that if the votes came from another county (ie., the votes were for the opposing party), the responses would be different, but I really doubt it would be. The truth is, most would look at this situation and recognize these votes as legitimate. You might find a few who would say otherwise, but then you can find a few people who say damned near anything.

Ramona Kitzinger, the Democratic member of the county board of canvass, defended the process. She agreed with Nickolaus that the board "went over everything and made sure that all the numbers jived up, and they did."

"I'm the Democratic vice chair of Waukesha County, so I'm not going to stand here and tell you something that's not true," Kitzinger said.

Ramona Kitzinger, my nominee for sane Wisconsin politico of the year.

Your obsession and myopia seem to indicate otherwise, but good luck with that.

Obviously, they'll have to recount Waukesha

They are still in the process of doing the first count, moonbat. So no, it's not "obvious" that they'll have to do a recount.

Your littering the comment section with "wingnut" every other sentence does tend to detract from your air of Olympian detachment.

Here's an interesting observation from Althouse on election night:

UPDATE, 11:43: Dane (Madison's county) is nearly all in. I don't see how Kloppenburg can net more than about 3,000 with what's left of Dane. Waukesha is now shown as completely in, but the numbers didn't change, so I think something may have been misreported. I took the trouble to do a calculation and was going to predict that Prosser would net 40,000 more votes in Waukesha. What happened?

WV Mantch -- as in Ramona Kitzinger is a Mantch

I'm a Righteous Wingnut,
And I've come to rebut,
All those from the left,
Who are into vote theft,
Here's some verbal combat,
You are all MOONBATS!

Sort of throws a wrench in all those recall petitions, no?

I mean, the Union Thugs threw everything they had at this and achieved 90% turnout in Madison, and Wisconsin said, "No, thank you. We prefer our judges to be judges and not politicians."

Thank goodness there are still places in this country that understand and care about civic duty and selflessness.

I'll also say that the game isn't over yet and there are still a few minutes in overtime, but just the fact that the Unions threw everything they had - money, death threats, intimidation, etc. - at this race and could only pull out a tie at best gives me great hope.

Another account of the press conference:

"At one point Ramona Kitzinger, a Democratic representative on the canvassing board and vice-chair of county’s Democratic party, stepped up to podium to confirm Nickolaus’s account. “We’re satisfied that it’s correct,” Kitzinger said of the numbers.“We went over everything and made sure the numbers jibed.”

Still even after the count is over and done with, you KNOW the Democrats are going to the courts to demand a recount. The circus will go on for a few more weeks.

Franklin said...

In the spirit of conspiracy theories - is it possible that a worker sympathetic to Prosser intentionally withheld this vote tally until the Unions played its fraud hand? That they waited until the Unions found the last couple boxes of ballots in the trunk of the '88 Oldsmobile and before releasing the tally?

Placeholder: Wingnut magazine says wingnut county found 14,000 votes, net +7,500 or so for wingnut judge.

Awwwww, the little bitch is having another tantrum. Poor thing.

It's their right, though if the vote margin remains the way it is now, Kloppenberg, or rather, the unions will have to pay for it.

Ah, good point. I know I would have done it.

Mordecai Lee is going crazy with conspiracy theories on Rachel Maddow's show. He's clearly alleging fraud in Waukesha county.

"... but these incredibly tight margins guarantee bruised feelings and a sense of illegitimacy."

That wasn't really ever the case before the Democrats' infantile tantrum in 2000. But they sure do love them some Change™, and now the entire country is suspicious of election results no matter who wins. Thanks for the great contribution to our democracy, jackasses.

Electoral fraud is ALWAYS a problem and should ALWAYS be an issue. I'm willing to accept the results of a fair election - but I'll be angry if it doesn't LOOK fair.

Anybody who wants to cash a check, or use a credit card, or get on an airplane - or if the TSA has its way, a train or bus! - has to show some form of ID. I want everybody who VOTES to show some form of ID. Preferably, I'd do what the Iraqis and Afghans have done, and dye your finger purple to prevent double-voting.

But the Dems only exist these days because of fraud. Mary Landreu and Loretta Sanchez may just be two of the most extreme examples, but I'll bet most of you can come up with a couple more.

AND, I second the suggestion to carefully examine the voter registrations of all college students, to make sure that they aren't voting twice.....

Hip hip hooray for the good guys. Great to see corrupt union thugs and DNC goons get their comeuppance...!

Who is this "you" that keeps popping up in your comments? Why do you assume that, because I haven't drunk the Prosser kool-aid, I'm some hardcore liberal Democrat who's opposed to clean elections? Nothing in any of my comments even remotely says that.

Your need to manufacture a position for me and then argue against it stinks of desperation to me. Why else would you just assign me a position on the 2000 recount and 2004 Florida governor's race, even though you have no clue what my actual thoughts on the matter were?

I thought that you originally were arguing in good faith, but now I can see you're just another pathetic hack. Those are a dime a dozen here at Althouse.
