Tommy Thompson is running!

Papers filed.
When asked why he would want to be a freshman senator, he said, "Because the country is in terrible shape."

Is he running, or is it more of a brisk old man's walk?

Probably bored. Misses the action. As opposed to Obama who's bored by the action. Because he's superior. So we're told.

WI recycles its old politicians.

Tommy sounds like a young boy's name. Can the prevent pictures of the old guy from being circulated?

I doubt that he will attract any voters under 60 unless he gets Palin's endorsement.

@Fred

I haven't seen him walk lately, bur surely he's not tottering for Senate.

@edutcher

I think we reuse them. In contrast to New York, which reduces them.

Tommy heeds the call. Good on him!

If it turns into a Tammy vs Tommy race, then the citizens will win either way.

Calypso Facto said...

I don't know if Tommy's the right guy, but we did need someone in the race who falls somewhere between the extremes of Wisconsin's most liberal and Wisconsin's most conservative legislators or the past 30 years.

Oh please, won't you just please GO AWAY!

We understand that you evidently think that you being in politics is your life, must you being in politics also be our lives as well?

GO AWAY. This is not an oligarcy.

Yawn.

But I'll listen to what he has to say. Maybe he'll sway me.

Original Mike said...

Why don't we just give Ron Johnson two votes?

I do believe that Tommy will beat Tammy.

I do believe that Tommy will beat Tammy.

Maybe. I predict a flood of ads funded from out of state. (sigh)

Not a big fan of recycling politicians. He's better then Neumann, I guess.

AllenS said...

And who do you think will get the most money from out of state, MadMan?

MadisonMan said...

I'm not sure. Emily will fund a lot of Tammy's (I'm sure my lesbian friend for Kindergarten who lives in Palo Alto will send money to her too -- she's a big fan!) warchest -- and Tommy will get lots from his friends on K Street -- but at least for those they'll have to say they approved the message. I'm talking about those ludicrous ads that always end Call Joe Politician and tell him we don't want perverts raping dogs on the street in Waupaca -- or some such thing.

Seen a sign go up at BobFest while Baldwin was speaking "Tammy supports painful experiements on chimpanzees". Must have been an east sider.

Tommy is the only Republican candidate who can raise enough money to win this election. Democrats will pour at least $20 million into Baldwin's campaign

I like Tommy. I think he will find it harder to run government in the challenging 21st century vs the go-go 90s.

Chuck66 said...

This past 6 months we had all of these liberals say "we liked Republicans like Tommy Thompson". Well, they also said (in 2000) that they would vote for John McCain for President.

That will change fast now. Suddenly Tommy will become a monster to the left.

Tommy carried hard core Democrat Douglas county (Superior) in all three of his re-election races. He can get old-style Demomcrats to vote for him.

I love it how Tommy Thompson reminded Charlie Sykes, Milwaukee right wing radio talk show host, this AM how way back when he was running for Governor, that Sykes said how Thompson was "too conservative". My,how the worm turns.

"Call Joe Politician and tell him we don't want perverts raping dogs on the street in Waupaca."

Well, we don't.

Tommy is a buffoon.

He is too old- I wish voters would automatically vote against all candidates who are baby boomers or older.

I would like to see a debate between Thompson and Nader.

It would be so nostalgic, like watching Turner Classic Movies.

I would like to see a debate between Thompson and Nader.

Nader and a bunch of progressive "leaders" just declared they are going to be looking for primary challengers to POTUS.

Tommy will "turn" Tammy into a cougar.

Tammy's a big dyke. No big dyke will win in Wisconsin.

Unless, she decided to pray the gay away.

Her tits bouncing on the Gay Float with Wonder "Woman" will be a big hit in Marinette.

Tommy Thompson is Wisconsin's first original conservative....he won four times when Republicans where not nearly as popular as they are now (and I assure you - this party is starting to look better and better to a lot of Wisconsin folks in this mostly rural state encumbered by mostly big city ideologies). He was innovative, a leader among many Governor's and - interestingly - the biggest state environmentalist we have ever had as far as land protection. You run, Tommy Boy, and you will be happy to know we will be happy to send you to DC.

BTW- people who post about age and him being gone to pasture are agists...and that's way creepy.

Run Tommy Run! One of the only Republicans to win African American wards in Milwaukee without pay offs and voter scams. We should all look this up and figure out what he did right - because he did (a hum....the birth of the innovative Milwaukee School Choice vouchers....)

Friggin look it all up.

Wake me up when someone interesting enters the race.

Who can piss farther, Tommy or Tammy?

WV: acided

Kathy,

Tommy is no conservative..he pandered to Afscme and that's how he got elected. Thompson grew the state government more than Doyle. Are you Carol "Ditzy" Herman's daughter she gave up for adoption?

-------------
Depends on the national mood. 2012 is shaping up to be a referandum election. Right now, Obama is the one that has the taint of being bad for Americans, bad for jobs..Meaning just about any decent Republican could beat the lesbian than licks Obama's boots.

But if the taint shifts to Republicans as willing to sacrifice anything, even national security, to preserve the tax cuts on the rich ...then perhaps it won't matter who Tammy runs against. She wins.

Kathy-I am an agist. I wish Andy Rooney and Morley Safer and Larry King and others like them would go away.

MadisonMan said...

Morley Safer is still alive? His drinking hasn't killed his liver?

He's five foot nothing. A tiny, tiny man.

So is being gay an advantage or disadvantage for a senate candidate in Wisconsin? How many percentage points difference positive/negative does it make?
