"Why are you giving this animal a platform?" said the commenter at the feminist website Feministe.

"There are three-and-a-half billion women on this planet with inspiring, thought-provoking stories and insights to share, and you choose instead to promote the self-serving rhetoric of a narcissistic sexual predator."
Oddly enough, this outrage came just days after Schwyzer had proclaimed his solidarity with the feminist movement by withdrawing from an online magazine called The Good Men Project. As its name suggests, the site was built around a simple question -- "What does it mean to be a good man?" -- and Schwyzer had welcomed the opportunity to preach his brand of feminism to a mostly male audience. But on December 14, 2011, the site's founder, Tom Matlack, published a piece called "Being a Dude Is a Good Thing" in which he argued that men and women were fundamentally different, and that women refused to "accept men for who they really are." It wasn't "ethically possible," [Hugo] Schwyzer wrote on his site, "to remain silent while the site with which I am now best associated took an increasingly anti-feminist stance."
And then Schwyzer was kicked off Feministe.

I'm so freaking glad (and I declare it proudly) that I don't know what any of this is referring to.

in which he argued that men and women were fundamentally different, and that women refused to "accept men for who they really are".

So the feminists involved basically coming right out and admitting that they think men and women are the same in every way? That seems to be the case if one considers the quote from the "dude" article to be anti-feminist.

If you have to go to the internet to find out if you're a "real man" or not then it's already too late for you.

The outrage was sparked by an interview in which Schwyzer discussed his own checkered past, including consensual sex with his students. Underneath the post, Feministe commenters drew attention to an even more astonishing admission -- in a year-old post on Schwyzer's own site -- that in 1998, while intoxicated, he had attempted to kill himself and an ex-girlfriend.

I can understand why they might want someone else to write for their site.

Um, really?

Is this what passses for "intelligent commentary" in the feminist world?

I'm constantly reminded of the unimpeachable intellectual consistency of the feminist position when they react with outrage at female high school teachers that have sex with their male students.

Controversy!!!

But some argue that behind Schwyzer's feminism lurks traditional patriarchal authority. On January 11, Jezebel ran a piece by Schwyzer entitled "He Wants to Jizz on Your Face, but Not Why You Think," in which Schwyzer argued that men crave this sexual act not to denigrate women, but to feel accepted.

What ever are we going to do about this!!!

Talk about a self selected group of intellectually incurious bores.

Still, the fight over facials reflects a broader disagreement about which writing counts as feminist

Indeed it does!

I guess moderates who see both sides of an issue today are...well worthless.

The funny thing is that today a dedication to civil discourse with other individuals, just because they are rational people deserving the respect to be heard has gone away, except at Christian Churches and at Althouse Blog. Hmmm.

I suspect that this is because love towards others requires an exercise in self discipline to be effective.

Whatever small peccadillos this man might have committed in the past, it must be admitted that he stands in favor of abortion. No man who favors abortion and Obama is a foreigner to the feminist community. This is not a soul past redemption. Give him another chance......I also welcome his frank discussion of the feminist implications of facial jizzing. This is an interesting topic that has not been fully explored in feminist circles.

I was kind of hoping the commenter was writing about an actual animal.

If an animal needs a platform, maybe they can get Honey Badger to replace the guy. Honey badger don't care.

"Today, Schwyzer holds a Ph.D. in Medieval history and teaches history and gender studies at Pasadena City College.

Since 2003, he has written several long essays a week, mostly for mixed-gender audiences. He uses feminist jargon in his writing (including such terms as "rape culture," "slut shaming," "male privilege," and "reproductive justice"). His own site features interviews with other established feminists and includes approving links to feminist sites.
"

Notably, this all does succeed in him getting laid.
Which is his aim.

Hell, sounds great, except for the Zofran I'd need to write such drivel, which is expensive and now in short supply.

But good for him.
Whatever works.

The natural order is the next victim of progressive corruption. Men and women are not fundamentally different. We are not the same. We are complementary.

Along with corruption, confusion is also progressive. This explains a progressive number of people turning to psychotropic drugs, sex change therapy, cults, etc., in order to escape reality. The rejection of the natural order has manufactured cognitive dissonance.

This also explains the progressive nature of dreams of physical, material, and ego instant gratification. People revel in their dignity while rejecting other people's dignity. They just want to feel good and they vote for redistributive and retributive change.

The civil and human rights movements need to be revisited. The outcome has been objectively negative progress for both society and humanity.

So the question arises, why does it seem certain sexist "animals" with liberal politics go unscathed among feminist?

The answer is what Schwyzer didn't have: power and money.

Tony Montana explains.

I think I'm with Andy R on this one. I don't know Feministe well and wouldn't pretend to, but if it were my blog, I'd probably throw the writer under the bus. It seems similar to the Althouse comment policy: the blog-controllers can do whatever they want. If you don't like it, get your feminism elsewhere.

RonF said...

Arguing that men and women are fundamentally different is anti-feminist? A lot of the feminist writing that I've read insists that men and women are different - and that women are superior in that fashion.

There's a blatantly sexist comment in the article. Matlack's tweet taht he had "engaged the wrath of feminists". Using "wrath" as the women's response has all sorts of sexist connotations and excuses the feminists response. Wrath is, after all, a "reactive" emotion, a passive emotion, another person's response to something you've done.

Really, it's not wrath, it's simple hatred that feminist hold with them at all times. Hatred of the male and the masculine. Matlack did nothing to cause the hatred, he simply stuck his head up and drew the attention of it.

@The Drill Sgt:

You're misreading Schwyzer the way he wants you to misread him if you think he's a beta.

He IS a sexual predator, and he has admitted it many times.

As a professor he actively sought out and screwed his (female) students many many times.

Listen to women on his blog write about his charm and masculinity, he is no beta.

He however, is terribly hypocritical, and he commits all the crimes that he then pins on and blames other males for.

EVERY SINGLE "CRIME."

Is something Hugo has done or is doing.

But never a beta. Just a sexual predator.

You can find that description of him on many men's blogs and quite a few women's blogs as well.

PCC knows this about Hugo and continues to let him teach and interact with students.

Then he is beta. Real men don't play that shit.

Real men state their case honestly - warts and all - and whoever is out there has to deal with it, period.

I ain't seen a feminist who can prove he/she is better yet.

As a matter of fact, it usually makes them cry to understand A) they ain't got no answer for it, and B) how truly weak they are in the face of a man who ain't cowed, or influenced, by political correctness.

Stupid bitches.

And anyone who goes along with them is stupid, too. Just look at what everyone - men and women alike - are doing to this clown,...

Dan Savage calls Hugo a castrati...

Months before...

http://liveweb.archive.org/http://slog.thestranger.com/slog/archives/2011/07/21/to-tell-the-truth

I know there are women out there who don't believe they have a right to police the erotic imaginations of their boyfriends and husbands—to say nothing of their brothers, coworkers, bosses, and coaches. There are women out there who don't consider porn a form "buying sex." There are women out there who don't go "ballistic" when their boyfriends or husbands admit to looking at a little porn. And there are women out there who use porn themselves. I know all of that. And I know that this completely insane post at Jezebel was written by a man. But, shit, reading it... all I could think was... I'm so glad I'm gay.

The castrati sings:

>>>Because so many men are dishonest about sex, either lying directly or being "economical with the truth" about their private behavior, women are left feeling unsafe and mistrustful. Of course, not every single man uses porn or buys sex in other forms. But a great many do, as Newsweek reminds us, and they do include husbands and boyfriends, brothers and fathers, bosses and teachers, coaches and co-workers. That so many women are unsettled by that reality is as much a reflection of what they don't know about the men in their lives as what they do....

>>>I've heard from many guys who tell me that they lie about porn (and the other kinds of sex they may buy) because, as one put it to me, "women go ballistic when you tell them the truth." But it's not women's job to ratchet down their anger in order to make it safe for men to get real. We owe it to the women we love—and to ourselves—to have the courage to name what it is we're doing and how often we're doing it.

So... husbands and boyfriends, brothers (!) and fathers (!!), bosses (!!!) and teachers (!!!!), coaches (!!!!!) and coworkers (!!!!!!) have a responsibility to be honest with the women in their lives about their porn use. But women can't be asked to "ratchet down their anger" when they're told the truth—indeed, they have a right to be furious, and you should stand there and take it, you sex maniac. You tell the truth, she goes ballistic—got it, guys?

Sometimes I'm so glad that my wife is a man.
