And it's not a hidden agenda.

Do they still teach spherical trigonometry in high school? Is it gone, like alchemy?

A quantum mechanics professor asks the class. (start at 38:45)

Sad, isn't it? On this side of the Atlantic, STEM education is woeful.. he is a good teacher and the students you see there are the cream of the crop -- IITs are known for their high quality undergraduate education. But there is a woeful lack of PhD students in India -- not many want to get into research.
(BTW, I am proud to say my hubby is a graduate of IIT Madras).

There used to be a Black Dog Cafe in Missoula. A hippie place. I think they served dogmeat.

Carol, would that be the home of Black Dog Ale of Missoula MT?

A fine brew.

What I'd order at the White House if Obama invited me to a beer summit.

Unremarkable.

I thought it was pretty remarkable, but that means the lab docs didn't find disease. Yeay!

And: I thought I'd end pain-causing Femara in March, but was extended to May 2014. It could have been worse. If onco thought I was high risk, she'd extend me another 5 years.

Great news: I've been promoted to annual visits (instead of every 6 months).

Yeay!

Doc thinks my rib pain might be arthritis. I haven't ever heard of arthritis in the ribs!

I think it might be a new zone of Femara pain.

I don't think so because the cafe has been gone forever..replaced by a humongous law firm building.

But now that you mention it, I'll be happy to try the ale. ;)

Congrats, Ms Liz.

So glad to hear things are working out for you.

Sunday. Falcons. Football. Ha hahahahahahahah ah aaaaah good one.

49ers vs Pats would make for a great SB matchup. When it comes to the #1 seed Falcons, i am a doubting Thomas .

Btw- After seeing my packers shredded for almost 600 yards, may i suggest a spy on Kaepernick when the defense is in man coverage? It might limit him to less than 175 yards rushing.

Hi KentuckyLiz: that's good news =)

My Mom had Stage III BC. I bought two bottles of wine that required aging for twenty years as a Christmas gift. We drank the wine five years ago!

Our weak and dull Falcons have no chance at all against the monster 49ers.

Thus it is said on every sports commentator's predictions. They may have to call off the game under the mercy rule when the score is more than a 52 point SF lead in the first half. Why do they bother to play this game at all?

But one thing is for sure. After the Falcons accidentally win again, the Falcons will become instant underdogs to the Baltimore Ravens.

The Falcons are weak and dull, you know. They are even worse than TCU's little sisters of the poor that played Wisconsin's monster team in 2011 the Rose Bowl.

Possibly so. Seems prudent, doesn't it?

Yet the Falcons D, especially their front seven, are smallish.

I think that means the Niner offensive line will, if you and Chip Ahoy will excuse me, shred the Falcon's defense with it's power run blocking.

Kaepernick may not have to run much at all.

I'm sure Bill Walsh would understand.

However, anything can happen - that's why they play the games - but my boys should be ok Sunday evening.

PS: Kentuckliz - yes, that's great news. Have a Manhattan!

Falcons are 24th in total defense, 23rd against the pass, 21st against the run, 5th in points allowed.

So, they give up lots of yards, but not too many points.

On offense, they're 8th in total yards, 6th in passing, 20th in rushing, 13th in rushing TDs, 6th (higher is worse) in negative rushes to the left, 10th in negative rushes over the middle, and 23rd in negative rushes to the right. Their rights side of the line is clearly their best side. They are 2nd in third down conversions, tied with Oakland at 31st in fourth down conversions, and 7th in points.

They clearly rely on their passing game over their running game. They're 25th in sacks allowed, but 8th in hits on their QB. So Ryan gets rid of the ball just in time, but he has 14 interceptions (to 32 TD passes).

They're also the least penalized team, with only 55.

So, they are a good, solid team, well coached, playing at home.

It should be a competitive game, especially early, but I like my boys' chances.

Aging the wine! that's awesome. A Manhattan would be awesome.

Mom died 3 years after dx.

I've survived 5 1/2 years so far (and 7 1/2 years and 21 years of my other two cancers).

I'm friggin' indestructible.

Oops

A troubling oversight has been found within New York State's sweeping new gun laws.

The ban on having high-capacity magazines, as it's written, would also include law enforcement officers.

Magazines with more than seven rounds will be illegal under the new law when that part takes effect in March.

As the statute is currently written, it does not exempt law enforcement officers.

Nearly every law enforcement agency in the state carries hand guns that have a 15 round capacity.

Mass histeria.

I would love to see a federal law forbidding any policeman in America from carrying a weapon that could not legally be carried by a civilian.

The strategy would be a departure from recent discussions where Republicans pushed that any increase in the debt limit must include spending cuts that amounted to the same size of the increase. It's unclear what kind of spending cuts GOP leaders might want to include

Isn't it odd. Everytime the GOP discusses spending reductions, CNN is up in ARMS about it.

And see the bias.
