"North Korea said Thursday that it plans to carry out a 'high-level nuclear test' and further long-range rocket launches, all of which it said are 'aimed at the U.S.'"

"The statement from the North's National Defense Commission was carried by the state-run Korean Central News Agency," says just-in email from CNN Breaking News.

I read it aloud, hear myself laugh, then say, "It's funny 'til it's not funny," and Meade says, "Axis of Evil."

Did you ever answer me as to why we had a draft in WW2?

Because the United States prior to WW2 was overwhelmingly isolationist.
FDR desperately wanted to get us involved to help Britain and France. Pearl Harbor brought a lot of enlistees to all branches of the service, but still a lot of people still thought we should not be involved in Europe.

Go read a fuckin' book.

Revenant if commenters here focused less on me and more on the argument or topic being discussed, so many of these threads would not end up being all about me, so why don't you folks who do this, stop doing it?

Because the topic you raised is interesting to me even though you yourself have nothing interesting to say about it.

Rusty, you totally miss the point, yes yes they were isolationist. But they were not totalitarian, the draft was no tyranny then, nor would it be now.

Rusty seriously you suffer from the Dunning- Kruger effect too. You and Shouting Thomas and Edutcher, three peas in a pod:)

Yes it was.
Yes it would.

What part of "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude."
Are you having a problem with.

No. Really. Read a fuckin' book. I'm getting tired of educating you dolts and not getting paid for it.

Non-totalitarian governments do tyrannical things all the time.

Local governments can often be the worst offenders.
